About the Film: Not In Our Neighborhood
Our film is an Israeli documentary about fringe theater across the country. Sean, Valeria, Odel and Asael are teenagers trapped by the stereotypes that Israeli society has attached to them. As part of an educational project with the Cameri Theater, they stage a play about their personal lives that is meant to provide them a platform to express themselves. Instead, despite the project’s good intentions, it reveals that the teens’ home and educational environments don’t always succeed in looking past labels and typecasts either. This story is about children who seek as many moments of grace as possible amid a society that is often unable to accept those it perceives at different.
