About the Event:

For those who are coming on the bus with the group from Tel Aviv, we will be leaving at 7pm sharp from the Savidor Central Train Station on Arlozoroff Street. Everyone coming to the Israel Museum on their own will meet the rest of the group at the entrance to the museum at 8:30pm.

This special evening in Jerusalem will begin with a private tour of Ron Arad's unique monumental video art installation in the museum's art garder from London, "720", and will be followed by discussions with the artist.

About the Artist: Ron Arad

Ron Arad is one of the most well known Israelis on the global art scene. He stands out among the most influential designers of our time for his daredevil approach to form, structure, technology, and materials in work that spans the disciplines of industrial design, sculpture, architecture, and mixed-medium installation. Ron was born in Tel Aviv in 1951, studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art (1971-73), moved to London and studied at the Architectural Association in London (1974-79).

In 1989, Ron founded Ron Arad Associates, an architecture and design pratice. In 1994 he established the Ron Arad Studio, design and production unit in Como, Italy. Ron Arad was a guest professor at the Hochschule in Vienna from 1994 to 1997 and is currently the professor of Industrial and Furniture design at the RCA in London.

His work has been widely featured in many design/architectural books and magazines worldwide. He has exhibited at many major museums and galleries throughout the world and his work is in many public collections including, among others, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
